Why Volkin exists
We measured
the market first
Volkin is a new Philippine wire manufacturer. We started in 2026.
Before we made anything, we bought the brands already sitting on hardware shelves across Metro Manila, in the sizes Filipino homes and job sites actually use. Then we stripped the jackets, measured the conductors, and tested them against what the labels promised.
What we found is the reason this company exists. Not every brand cuts corners — but enough of them do, and the corners they cut are invisible to the person buying the wire.

The shortcuts
you can’t see
Undersized
We measured conductor cross-sections between 10% and 40% below the size printed on the label. Wire sold as 3.5mm² carrying materially less copper doesn’t simply underperform — it runs hotter than the circuit it was specified for.
Impure
Then we tested resistance. Even after allowing for the missing copper, the readings still came back high — which points past the size to the metal itself. Impure or reprocessed copper resists current, drops voltage, and turns that resistance into heat.
Double-layered
Cut the jacket on some samples and two different PVCs appear: a cheap, brittle inner layer hidden under a normal-quality outer skin. It looks right on the shelf. It fails where it matters — at the bend, in the heat, years in.
Still burning
Building wire is meant to stop burning the moment the flame is taken away. We held a flame to samples that carried on burning without it. Inside a wall, that is the difference between a fault and a fire.
None of this is visible to the person buying the wire. All of it is visible to anyone willing to measure. Good wire does exist in this market — we found some. What we could not find was a single reel that got every part of it right at once. So that is what we set out to build, with the real numbers printed on the box.
